Southside Place Summer Camp 2008 Get ready for Southside Summer Camp! The Clubhouse at Fire Truck Park will be the home base for a summer experience available only to residents of Southside Place. Continuing a neighborhood tradition, our kids will have great fun and develop friendships that will carry over through the school year. Campers must be members of the Southside Park Association. If your family is not yet a member, contact Cindy Burnett at cburnett5@comcast.net Camp Director Ed Davis, a P.E. teacher in Fort Bend ISD, returns for his 25th year to lead our program. Karin Davis, an HISD kindergarten teacher, will be back to run the arts and crafts program. Kasey Bryant, a kindergarten teacher at West University Elementary, will join us this year to oversee the Pre-School camp. Neighborhood teens, ages 14 and up, are hired as counselors for all programs. This year’s volunteer Camp Co-Administrators are Karen Willis and Judy Stanley. We offer a PRE-SCHOOL (Small Room) camp for children ages 3 - 5 years, a BRIDGE camp for children ages 5-7 years and a BIG ROOM camp for children 6 years and up, as of June 1, 2008. This year’s camp will run as follows: First Session: Monday, June 8th through Wednesday, July 2nd (3 1/2 weeks) Second Session: Monday, July 7th, through Friday, August 1st (4 weeks) Some recent changes from years past… � There will be camp half of the Fourth of July week (June 30th – July 2nd) � Bridge Program will be offered for campers ages 5 to 7 years � Sports Program for big room campers – tennis, basketball, baseball, volleyball & more � Special events such as guest speakers/entertainers � Children under the age of 10 years must be signed out of camp by an adult or guardian on parent’s approved list � Children that leave camp for any reason (lunch, doctor’s appointment, or other) will be considered checked out of camp Registration Information Upon completion of electronic registration forms, print a copy and then submit via email. Signature forms and checks must be delivered to Le Melcher at 6530 Auden. Completed registration is due by May 15th, please be observant of the deadline so that we may plan staffing and programming or a late fee of $30 will apply. Small room & Bridge priority registration will be based on date application is received (these programs usually fill up & some families did not get all dates requested). Registration fee is $15 – 20 per camper. Questions? All children attending must be fully potty trained. The camp runs daily, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Monday – Friday. Campers provide their own lunch. Attendance options are:
Bridge Program The bridge program is for children ages 5 to 7 who are ready to move on from the small room but are not quite ready for the big room. Children will be placed with an Assistant Camp Director and will be supervised as they move, as a group, through the big room, art room and other special activities. Bridge camp hours are 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Monday – Friday. Campers provide their own lunch. Attendance options are:
Big Room Camp This program is designed for children ages 6 and up. Daily activities include a variety of fast-paced games and arts and crafts. Big Room campers can also use the park, pool, tennis courts, playground, basketball courts, and ball field as mutually agreed upon between parent, camper, and camp staff. Campers provide their own lunch, except on Fridays, when lunch is offered as an option for $3.00. The Big Room camp runs daily, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Campers may choose either the Full Day or Half Day program. Specific counselors are assigned to tend to the younger campers to ensure that they receive the attention and comfort that they need. Attendance options are:
Campers entering 7th grade and above pay a supplies/usage fee of $25 per session plus $15 registration fee. Daily Drop-In is available for $25 - $30 per day - drop-in campers must submit all forms and pay the registration fee of $15. In addition, we will be offering our pre-paid daily rate cards again. Daily camp for 5 non-consecutive days is $100 (full-day) and $80 (half-day). Counselors We are accepting applications for returning counselors only at this time. Last summer we had a record number of counselors apply, and consequently, new applicants may submit an application but acceptance will be based on need.
